About
KAKAKI Love & Light Missions
What is KAKAKI?
Kakaki is a 10-foot-long, unique African royal trumpet used in traditional music. Its sound is associated with royalty and is mostly played at events in the palace of a King.
Who We Are
We are a non-denominational mission agency committed to being God’s instrument to bring the message of love to His people across nations. If God seeks men to send, we are willing and ready vessels.
Our mission is anchored in Ephesians 2:10: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Vision
That all people will accept and experience the beauty and transforming love of God.
Mission
We are called to love, disciple, and impact all people, helping them have a true experience of God’s unending love through evangelical missions and good works. We also train and equip generations with a passion and readiness to share this same love.
Goals / Objectives
- To be ready instruments fit for the Master’s use.
- To bring the hope of the Gospel to a dying world.
- To reach out to all people with the love of God demonstrated through good works.
- To train and disciple young people for missions.
- To bring love and aid to the poor and weak.
- To provide education to vulnerable children in poor communities.
Core Values
1. Loving God and Loving People (Mark 12:30–31)
Understanding the heart of Jesus in the new commandment to love God and love people, we approach our missions using love as a weapon to break fear, hopelessness, and poverty in every community and person.
2. Prayer (John 5:19)
Like Jesus, our role model and example, prayer is foundational to our life and ministry. We don’t go on our own accord; we are sent. Knowing and seeing what’s in the heart of God comes from constant fellowship and prayer. Our mission first begins from our knees.
3. God’s Word (Psalm 119:105)
Our faith, hope, and the love we share are anchored on the Word of God. We are commissioned by His Word, and our obedience is to His Word.
4. Servanthood (Matthew 23:11)
We are created to serve God and serve humanity. Knowing that the ultimate human need is to know God (Love), we are called to holistic service, fostering community development and transformation so that, ultimately, men will know and experience the beauty of God’s love as we serve.
5. Discipleship (Matthew 28:19–20)
To encourage growth, maturity, and lasting transformation in lives and communities, there is a great need for discipleship. We teach, train, and disciple people into becoming all God has planned for their lives—His fullness in love.
Statement of Faith
We believe in:
- The divine inspiration and authority of the whole canonical Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16–17).
- God eternally existing as three: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 3:14).
- The fall and moral depravity of man and his need for regeneration (Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12).
- The birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Luke 1:26–35; Luke 24:44–46; Matthew 27:62–66; Matthew 28:1–10).
- The justification of the sinner by faith (Romans 3:23; Galatians 2:16; Romans 4:5).
- The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit in conviction of sin, purification, and preparation for work and ministry (John 16:8; John 16:13).
- The Church as the body of Christ, and the fellowship of all believers, commissioned to make disciples of all nations (Romans 12:5; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Matthew 28:19).
- The power of prayer to heal, make whole, and transform (James 5:16; Hebrews 4:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).
Units and Expressions
Kakaki Love and Light Missions has five expressions:
I. The Scribes
This is the publishing arm of the ministry. It comprises those gifted with the ability to write—stories, poetry, and other creative works—documenting our journey and creating impactful writings that encourage and edify people about faith, love, and hope. They engage in general scripting, social media blog posts, magazine publications, articles, interviews, and book reviews.
II. The Crossheart
This is the music arm of the ministry. They are responsible for writing, producing, documenting, and heralding songs for missions. They also organize concerts and worship meetings for the edification of people through music.
III. The Media
This is the media arm of the ministry. They capture and document every activity of the ministry, including graphic design, audio and video production. They also manage our social media presence.
IV. Prayer and Discipleship
This is the prayer arm of the ministry. They coordinate prayers and disciple converts and souls reached through missions. They organize prayer retreats, scripture drills, and discipleship courses to help everyone grow in the knowledge of God and express His love to humanity.
V. Welfare
This is the welfare arm of the ministry. They coordinate acts of good works and community engagements, such as medical outreaches, “Serve the Child” projects, food drives, orphanage and prison visitations. They also oversee the welfare of ministry workers and volunteers.
The Vision Story
Sometime in 2014, the Lord woke me with the words: “You are a Kakaki.” Before then, I had no idea what “Kakaki” meant, apart from the name of a morning TV show on AIT. I became curious to know what God meant. I nurtured the words for two years until they resurfaced in 2017.
I thought perhaps it was simply about sound or music, so I put together some songs in an Extended Play (E.P.) and released it. Then, in 2018, an instruction came to organize a concert to share the songs. I gathered my friends, and together we planned the event. The instruction was that all proceeds from the concert be used to send children to school—and we did exactly that. That was the beginning of our public implication in missions.
We enjoyed the fellowship and decided to keep meeting from time to time. God began placing new instructions in our hearts: visiting orphanages, sending children to school, and engaging in street evangelism. In 2020, we began to structure the work into units and expressions, leading to the many projects we have done since.
Projects
Dear Judith Project
The Dear Judith Project is a Kakaki initiative focused on caring for young and pregnant teenage girls through love and discipleship—meeting their basic needs and giving them hope for a better future. We conduct awareness campaigns on sexual purity and the dangers of abortion, organize programs for pregnant girls and single mothers, and offer counselling and practical support.
So far, we have worked directly with over 20 girls, with some of their babies now living testimonies. We have also reached more than 1,000 young girls through outreaches.
Educational Fund
For over five years, we have sponsored children from various communities to school. This began after the first concert when we decided to channel the proceeds into education. We provide both partial and full scholarships—covering tuition, uniforms, books, and other materials—so every child has a chance to learn.
Over 30 children have benefited so far. We envision establishing the Kakaki Model School in the coming years, a free school for children from poor and vulnerable communities affected by crisis.
Serve the Child Project
This is our hands-on community engagement initiative. Inspired by Jesus’ words that “the greatest among you will be your servant”, we go into communities to serve children in practical ways—barbing hair, braiding, washing feet, mending torn clothes, distributing books and pencils—and sharing the Word of God.
So far, we have visited four communities and reached over 2,500 children.
Bible Clubs
We meet with children of different ages in communities to teach and share the Word of God, aiming to build them in faith and the love of Jesus, with a strong understanding of Scripture to strengthen their convictions.
We began with clubs at Namua-Abattoir and behind the Vitafoam factory in Jos, meeting with over 100 children weekly. We paused briefly to restructure for wider impact and now plan to expand into more communities.
Every year, we organize a Community Bible Quiz, where representatives from our Bible clubs compete with others in Scripture knowledge and memorization. We are soon transitioning this into a Children’s Bible Camp, housing children for a week of teaching, study, and learning, culminating in a quiz competition.
Rural Missions
Every year, we embark on rural missions in obedience to God’s instruction to reach all people—not only in cities but also in rural communities. We work with a team of medical professionals for outreaches, serve children, and share the Gospel. God has confirmed His Word through salvation, healing, and miracles.
In 2022, we were in Kanam; in 2024, we served in Ampang West. Hundreds of souls have embraced the Gospel and begun their walk with Christ.
Kakaki Retreat
The last weekend of every February is set aside for the Kakaki Retreat—a gathering of mostly young people from across the North and other regions. It is a time devoted to loving and learning the ways of God through extended prayer, scripture drills, fasting, and in-depth Bible study.
This year, over 300 young people attended. By God’s grace, we are preparing to host over 1,000 in 2026.
